Saturday, September 26th

Weather permitting, we will ride from Clermont City Park at 9 AM. Ride distance can vary from 20 to 40 miles with an average being about 30. Weather forecast for Saturday is showing 40% chance of more of liquid sunshine. Will update the blog on Friday evening. Let me know if you plan to ride.

Ride is on for the time being. Weather check in the early AM and no ride if raining. Hard to tell at the moment what it is going to do (I even used to be a weatherman). This one is a bit hard to predict.

Don't forget that the toughest 100 mile ride in Georgia - The 6 Gap Century - is Sunday, September 27th. See the link below.

Georgia Cup Test Ride - Saturday - July 11th

Come for a ride on the Road Race route for the Georgia Cup that will be held on July 18th and 19th in Gainesville. We will start at 9 AM (time change). While the "real" race starts at the Tadmore Elementary School the Gillsville Highway July 19th, we will start in downtown Gillsville and only do 1 or 2 laps unless there are those that want to experience the Elite - Cat 3 or ProAm - Pro12 riding experience. I am sure that I will be going at a much slower pace than one would experience in the real race.

Maps and the Georgia Cup schedule are available at the link below. Click on Flier and Directions for the schedule.

Wish me luck! I will be riding with a Trail-a-bike behind with my 6 year old granddaughter helping push me up the hills. I don't think we will have to be dressed like we are in the photo below based on the 15 day forecast.

Saturday - May 30th Ride

Ride from Lula at Rafe Banks Park. Last good weekend for BRAG prepping and plan a 40 to 60 mile ride - weather permitting. Meet at 9 AM. If logistics work out, will eat lunch at Jeannie's in Gillsville and finish the ride from there.

Had a good ride today - May 23rd and did about 21 miles from BC Grant Church. Missed the rain and as it has turned out, we could have extended the ride to about 40 miles. After the ride, we ate at Mickey Piggs and saw a couple of sprinkles there plus one on the way home. No other rain yet as of 4:20 PM.

Rode with Suzanne and her son Cameron Burns on Sunday and Monday to get them some training miles in. They are doing BRAG this year and were riding mountain bikes with knobby's. Getting road tires this week. Did 30 miles on Memorial Day and had a good lunch at Creekside Deli. Two more Creekside devotees now.

Ride for April 11, 2009

POSTPONED - windy, cloudy and cool - will ride after lunch from somewhere.

Ride is planned from BC Grant Church on BC Grant Road at 10 AM. Lunch afterwards at Mickey Pigg's or elsewhere with anyone's suggestion.

Turn north in downtown Alto at the intersection with the blinking light and go about 1.5 miles to the church on the left. Or, take Duncan Bridge off Hwy 365 to the south and take right on BC Grant. Park in the west parking lot as far from the church building as possible in case of a church activity.

Ride for April 4, 2009

We will meet in Gillsville and plan to leave about 10 AM. Park across the street from Jeannie's Cafe. Ride can range from 20 to 40 miles depending upon the desires of the group. I plan to hit about 40 since I am slightly behind my goal for March and need to catch up during April.

RIDE IS DEFINITELY ON!
COOL TO START and WARMING UP during the ride.

We ended up with right at 30 miles and a great lunch afterwards at Jeannie's Cafe in downtown Gillsville. Chicken salad was given a thumbs up by a chicken salad specialist, Jim and his wife, Lisa.

Will the Warm Weather Please Come On

Rides are planned starting April 4th. Please check again and I will have more details. I expect the first ride to leave from the city park in Lula and be somewhere between 30 and 40 miles. No drops, no leaving you a long way behind. That is why we call them leisurely rides. Average speed is somewhat over 12 depending on the hills. I will have a planned map posted by next weekend.
